The department of offshore oil and gas engineering was set up in 2012. It has 18 faculty members, including 4 professors, 11 associate professors, and 3 lecturers, 16 of them have PhD degree.
    The department can offer 26 curricula for both postgraduates and undergraduates, which include fluid mechanics, offshore drilling engineering, offshore oil and gas engineering, offshore environmental protection, etc.
    The main research field focuses on subsea well control, dowhhole information processing, subsea well flow assurance, drilling fluid for deep subsea wells, subsea field development, and offshore environmental protection. 
    The department has undertaken research projects of various levels, including national "863" project, "973" project, national nature foundation project, etc. 10 projects won the awards of provincial level. 20 patents are awarded. More 80 academic papers and 3 books have been published.
