The China Engineering Academy recently released the result of 2017 Academicians. Jinsheng Sun, a professor of the school of petroleum engineering of UPC was elected as the academician, the highest academic honor in China. 67 academicians are elected from 533 canidates.

Prof.Jinsheng Sun, born in 1965, held M.S from Nankai University in 1988 and PhD from Southwest Petroleum University in 2006. He joined UPC in 2016 as a team leader in the field of efficient development of unconventioal resources. He was ever awarded with two silver medels of National Science and Technology Achievement, one silver medel of Technology Innovation. He published 91 academic papers.

Prof. Sun has been long engaging in the innovation of oil and gas well engineering theory and technology and has solved lots of difficulties encountered in deep well and complicated well drilling. He is the earliest scientist to put forward to the theory that chemical membrance can be used for both wellbore stabilization and reservoir protection. He also invented the water based drilling fluid which is thermally stable at 240℃, and foam drilling fluid for 300℃. His research achievements have been extensively applied in all domestic oil fields and oil fields of 12 foreign countries.
