Recently the China Ministry of Educatoin and State Foreign Export Bureau jointly released the notification about new innovative and intelligent base (“111” project) of 2017, the Offshore Oil and Gas Engineering Innovation and Intelligent Base applied by Prof. Baojiang Sun was approved. This is the second “111” project of our school and the fourth one of our university.
The base, relied on the state key discipline of “Oil and Gas Engineering”,“Safety Science and Engineering”and “Vessle and Offshore Architechure and Manufacturing”, will be led by a team made up of 10 high ranked scientists from Brazil, Russia, Canada, etc., to carry out the researches on deepwater drilling and completion, deepwater development of gas hydrate, deepwater oil and gas flow assurance system. The establishment of this base will definitely increase our international influence on similar research areas in the world. The completing cycle of each “111” project is 5 years, with annual financial support of no less than YMB 1,800,000 from the state.

The“111” project means that 1000 members chosen from world top 100 universities or research institutes complete 100 innovative research bases ranked first class in the world.
