Nine exchange students from Malaysian Universiti Teknologi Petronas arrivied at our university last week. They will stay in the School of Petroleum Engineering for 7-month internship. This is the first time for the School to carry out internship program for international students. Last year, 4 students from our school were sent to this Malaysian university for short term training.
The exchange student agreement between two universities were signed last year. The school of petroleum engineering attached the great importance to this internship and designated 6 ourstanding professors to guide each Malaysian student for the research work. The exchange students are required to carry out scientific researches and complete an academic paper. The papar will be evaluated by a group of professors for final score, which will be transfered back to the PETRONAS for the credit. 
Apart from the academic work, the student union and SPE student chapter of the school will organize a series acitivities for the exchange students. By attending this acitivities, students from both universites can deepen their friendship, increase their spoken English proficiency and unverstand different cultures.
