Recently, the annual conference of International Society for Porous Media was held by the United States. 500 participants from various countries, including China, U.S.A., Germany, Norway, Swiss, Holland, and researching institutes, were invited to participate in the conference. Yongfei Yang, Zhang Lei and a few postgraduates from our school attended the meeting. The annual conference included four keynote speeches, 20 specially invited speeches and 348 oral speeches, which concentrate on the subjects of simulation and visualization of pore scale flow, industrial porous materials, porous media flow experimental research, etc.
  A parallel session on simulation of pore scale flow in unconventional reservoir and scale upgrading technology was hosted by our research center of oil and gas flow through porous media, which included 11 oral speeches and 12 posters. Yongfei Yang delivered the presentation of Pore Space Superposition Reconstruction Method for Shale Samples and Zhang Lei gave the presentation of the effect of wettability and soak time one hydraulic fracturing with lattice Boltzmann method in tight reservoirs, which represents the latest the achievement of the center on digital core technology and flow simulation. Norman Morrow, American academician, Mark Knackstedt, Austrilian academician, and others spoke highly of our reseach efforts.
  The International Society of Porous Media entrusted Yaojun, chief of the center, to establish the China Chapter for the development of porous media in China. The founding ceremony is expected to open later this year. The next annual meeting is to be held in Rotterdam of Holland.
