In order to stimulate the enthusiasm of specialized knowledge learning and application, facilitate the formation of professionalism, School of Petroleum Engineering held the first Petroleum Engineering Contest, and in the same time the 14th Campus Qualifier for SPE Petrobowl was held by the 2nd SPE Student Chater in China University of Petroleum(East China) on 14th Dec. Two stages can be divided including preliminary contest and the following rematch, both of the scores would be counted into the final assessment.

Preliminary contest was held first on in the form of Paper Test. Question were raised in English, which included listening comprehension in accordance with International Petrobowl Competition, chapter completion, passenge translation of dissertation abstracts from SPE International Jouranal, Question-Response and etc. The top 10 candidates would enter the next round. The final contest was held leater. Two parts in this section were Dialectical Statement and Translation of Dissertation.

Prize was awarded according to the total score of two rounds.The contest is aimed at providing an opportunity of specialized English proficiency self-test, a platform of basic academic and technical presentation, a connecting bridge of mutual communication and a chance to go for the international stage. The competition shows the outstanding comprehensive capability of specialized English proficiency of our students. And the quize types, the rules and procedures used in the International Petrobowl broaden the their horizon.
