Five memebers of our SPE student chapter attended the 8th International Youth Scientific and Practical Congress held in Gubkin State University of Russia on Nov. 22, 2016. The event was hosted by Gubkin State University SPE student chapter. More than one hundred students from about 10 countries, including Russia, China, Germany, Switzerland, Egypt, etc. participated in this event. 
The congress includes 5 parts which are presentations on north pole resources, paper competition, Petrobowl competion, company exhibition, and 3rd BRICS Youth Summit. Haorong Cui attended paper competion and won the third prize with the paper entitled “Prediction of CO2 Diffusion Coefficients in Brine Using the Hybrid Optimization Technique of Support Vector Machine and Genetic Algorithm”. Jingjiao Li, Xiaojing Guo, and Haorong Cui formed a team to attend 3rd BRICS Youth Summit. They completed a project of “Rational use of energy resources in industrial processes”, and won the first prize .
