The 14th Petrobowl competition, sponsored by SPE, was held on Sept. 26-30 in Houston of the United States. 36 finalists from different countries including Stanford, China University of Petroleum (Huadong), Tulsa University, National Autonomous University of Mexico, Technische Universiteit Delft etc., participated in this competition. Five students from the School of Petroleum Engineering formed a team to represent the China university of petroleum. Their performance in the competition was deeply impressed by the judges.After fierce competition, the National Automomous University of Mexico won the champion, University of Texas at Austin was the runner up, followed by Technische Universiteit Delft.
    Besides Petrobowl, the students also participated academic meetings, exhibition and traning activities. They exchanged cultures and views with global SPE students from University of Texas at Austin and Rice University and looked into future cooperation and development.
    Petrobowl, honored as Olympic in petroleim,is organized and sponsored by SPE with aims to build bridges among global SPE students to train highly telented people in petroleum. The competition covers areas of petroleum engineering, geoscience, world petroleum industry history, and current events in petrolum industry. The 15th Petrobowl will be held in Dubai.
