Recently the SPE headquarter decided to award the title of Gold Standard to our SPE student chapter. This is an honorary title given by the headquarters after making a comprehensive evaluation to the SPE student chapters all over the world.
    The SPE student chapter global contest which is held once a year aims to reward the SPE student chapter for excellent performance on organizing activities, professional education, and planning. In 2015, a total of 353 SPE student chapters from North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean are eligible for this award. Among all these student chapters, those from the 23 universities including the China university of petroleum (east China), University of Southern California, University of Oklahoma, Gubkin University, the University of Western Australia were finally evaluated to be the Gold Standard.
    The China University of Petroleum (East China) SPE student chapter was founded in July, 2013 for raising the college students international awareness and broadening their horizon by attending SPE activities such as Petrobowl, SPE paper contest, SPE Talk, and SPE Salon. Since its foundatin, our SPE chapter has successively won the runner-up of the SPE 2015 PetroBowl Asia Pacific Regional Qualifier, and the champion of the 6th International Student Petroleum Congress & Career Expo.
