Invited by our SPE student chapter, Pickard Trepress, chief expert of Beijing FRAC Company, recently visited our school and delivered a presentation entitled Society of Petroleum Engineers: Europe & the Petroleum Industry, in which he recalled his way up from a young man in military service to a distinguished expert in cementing/stimulation industry, and SPE paper editor, he gave an introduction to SPE and taught our students how to utilize SPE platrform to achieve their academic excellence. He also elaborated the recent achievements made in the field of formation damage and hydrofracturing in Europe, such as light proppants, self-suspension proppants, etc. In additon to the presentation, he also visited our cementing lab and trained our graduate students how to properly mix gel and cement slurry. He also taught them how to maintain the cementing equipment based on his 37 field experience.
    He promises to give his strong support to our SPE chapter in terms of SPE conference arrangement, paper sharing and editing and so on.
