Achievements:
Prof. Shen graduated from Chongqing University in 1951. He used to be the dean of the department of petroluem engineering. He is a professor , doctor supervisor, and the head of high water pressure jet institute of China University of Petroleum. He was elected the Academician in 2001.For past 20 year, Prof. Shen has made great contribution in application of high water pressure water jet to drilling engineering.
The main achievements include the following:
1. Invention of extended jet tricone bit, self-resonating cavitation jet bit, and hydraulic assisted bit
2. Establishment of new hydraulic design method and theory of using maximum hydraulic horsepower at bottom hole area as the objective function.
3. Application of self-resonating and cavitation rotary bit in solving water shutoff problem, resulting in direct economic profit over 100 million yuan.
He was awarded with the second prize of National Science and Technology, and the third prize of Nationa Invention, and other honors. He published over 70 papers, one English monograph, and two Chinese monographes. He holds 14 patents.
Research field: drilling and high pressure water jet.
