Recently, the State Press and Publication Administration issued <The Decision on Commending the 5th China Publishing Government Award Winning Publications, Publishing Units and Publishing Figures> and the 5th China Publishing Government Award Commendation Meeting was held by the Ministry of Propaganda in Beijing on July 29. The English version of Oilfield Chemistry, led by Prof. Caili Dai and Prof. Fulin Zhao from the School of Petroleum Engineering and published by China University of Petroleum Press, won the Book Award of China Publishing Government Award, which is the first time for our scholars to win this award and the first time for China University of Petroleum Press to win this award.

Since 2007, when the revision of the Chinese version of Oilfield Chemistry was conceived and started, to 2010, when the revised Chinese version of Oilfield Chemistry went to press, and to 2018, when the English version of Oilfield Chemistry was published, it has taken 12 years, and the author team and the publishing team have made great efforts, and many experts have participated in it, and several seminars have been held to refine it, and it has gained wide recognition in the field of oilfield chemistry in China. Oilfield Chemistry is widely recognized in the field of oilfield chemistry. The award-winning Oilfield Chemistry is oriented to the new direction of petroleum engineering and the needs of improving oil and gas recovery rate and reducing pollution in oil and gas production process, relying on the rich theoretical research results and advanced application technology achievements accumulated by the author team in long-term scientific research and teaching, and continuously optimizing and updating the content system to systematically explain the chemical methods to solve the problems involved in the three major fields of oil and gas drilling, oil recovery and gathering and transmission. The content of Oilfield Chemistry is based on the rich theoretical research results and advanced application technology achievements accumulated by the author team over a long period of time.

Oilfield Chemistry is the benchmark of China's oilfield chemistry field to the international level, fully responding to the national One Belt, One Road initiative, and supported by the National Publication Fund in 2018. Springer Nature Publishing Group, and the paperback and electronic versions have been released worldwide. The book has been highly recognized by experts and scholars in the field of oilfield chemistry at home and abroad, and has had a good international impact.

The China Publishing Government Award is the highest award in the field of press and publishing in China. It is awarded every three years to recognize and reward outstanding publications, publishing units and individuals in the domestic press and publishing industry, and is known as the three awards in the Chinese publishing industry, together with the Five-One Project Award and the Chinese Outstanding Publication Award. The 5th China Publishing Government Award has awarded 3 honorary awards, 60 book awards, 20 periodical awards, 20 audio-visual products, electronic publications and network publications, 10 printing and reproduction awards, 10 design awards, 50 advanced publishing units and 69 excellent publishing figures. The book awards involve more than 60 publishers, including 8 university publishers.
