Recently, the 2023 Petroleum and Mining Safety Discipline Development Strategy High-End Forum and the 12th National University Petroleum and Mining Safety Dean's Forum were held in Chengdu. More than 10 representatives from our university, including Vice President Dai Caili, Professor Sun Baojiang, and Dean Hou Jian, attended the forum.

The forum focused on the theme of Innovative Development and Strategy of Petroleum and Mining Safety Discipline under the Dual Carbon National Strategy, with key discussions on the current status and future trends of national petroleum and mining safety disciplines, high-quality innovative development of petroleum and mining safety disciplines under the dual carbon context, and the training mechanism for top innovative talents in petroleum and mining safety-related disciplines. Dai Caili delivered a keynote speech titled Research Progress and Reflections on Oilfield Chemistry and Enhanced Oil Recovery Techniques at the opening ceremony. Yang Yongfei, Wang Sen, and Wang Wendong presented reports on topics such as Digital Core and Nano-scale Seepage Mechanics System Research Progress, Exploration of Multi-scale Flow Simulation and Optimization Control Technology for Continental Shale Oil, and Complex Fracture Inversion Method in Shale Fracturing Based on Microseismic Clustering Analysis, respectively. Hou Jian and Yang Yongfei respectively hosted the petroleum discipline sub-forum and the young scholars sub-forum.

Professor Dai Caili delivers a report

During the forum, the selection of Outstanding Young Scientific and Technological Talents in the Field of Mining, Petroleum, and Safety Engineering in 2023 took place. Wang Sen was awarded the title of Outstanding Young Scientific and Technological Talent in the Field of Mining, Petroleum, and Safety Engineering in 2023 among 15 individuals nationwide. Xu Yuqiang received a nomination for the same award among 21 individuals nationwide.

The forum was organized by the Organizing Committee of the National University Petroleum and Mining Safety Dean's Forum, with support from the Engineering and Materials Science Department of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Disciplinary Appraisal Group of Mining Engineering, Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, and the Disciplinary Appraisal Group of Safety Science and Engineering. Southwest Petroleum University hosted the event, with nearly 400 renowned experts in the fields of petroleum, mining, and safety disciplines from national universities and relevant research institutions in attendance.
