According to the recent report from Tarim Oil News, the research achievement of Professor Sun Baojiang's team at our university, the leakage prediction technology, has been successfully applied in the engineering of ultra-deep and complex oil and gas reservoirs. The technological advancement has been fully recognized by the expert team from Tarim Oilfield Company, stating: The early prediction of abnormal increase in wellhead pressure during real-time controlled pressure drilling processes was successfully achieved, validating the leakage prediction analysis technology's capability to capture abnormal information in controlled pressure drilling conditions.
Professor Sun Baojiang is the chief scientist of the National Natural Science Foundation's Basic Science Center project and serves as the technical leader in the field of ultra-deep well completion engineering at the China Petroleum Ultra-Deep and Complex Oil and Gas Exploration and Development Technology Research Center, a joint initiative with our university. He is also the head of the wellbore multiphase flow control direction at the Belt and Road Joint Laboratory. The team is closely focusing on tackling the research challenges in ultra-deep drilling technology, addressing issues such as inaccurate prediction of leakage in downhole logging parameters in conventional controlled pressure drilling, which makes it difficult to provide precise guidance for wellhead pressure control and other on-site production challenges. Collaborating with the Spring Expert Committee Sub-Committee on Well Control of the Tarim Oilfield Company, they are jointly working on technological innovations in the directions of the flow evolution mechanism of multi-component fluids in ultra-deep wellbores, the theoretical model of multi-field and multi-phase coupled flow of complex components in ultra-deep reservoirs-wellbores, and the safe control of wellbore pressure in ultra-deep highly deviated wells.
Several professors from the team have conducted on-site selection of experimental well locations, precisely positioning the research direction of on-site experimental projects such as the leakage prediction analysis technology based on the fusion of multiple parameters from logging in conventional controlled pressure drilling. By obtaining the real-time data structure and characteristics of controlled pressure drilling on-site, they aim to further optimize and enhance well control methods and technologies in the on-site controlled pressure drilling environment, providing theoretical and technical support to ensure on-site well control safety in ultra-deep drilling operations.
The China Petroleum Ultra-Deep and Complex Oil and Gas Exploration and Development Technology Research Center is a collaborative innovation entity led by the Tarim Oilfield Branch of PetroChina, jointly established with units such as the China Petroleum Exploration and Development Research Institute, the China Petroleum Group Engineering Technology Research Institute, China University of Petroleum (East China), and the China Petroleum Economic and Technological Research Institute. Several teachers from our university have participated in the construction of the center, focusing on five key directions including the fundamental geological theory of ultra-deep oil and gas, development technology of ultra-deep oil and gas reservoirs, geophysical technology of ultra-deep oil and gas reservoirs, engineering technology of ultra-deep well completion, and engineering technology of ultra-deep oil and gas recovery, collaborating with the co-building units to conduct joint scientific and technological research.
