The 4th International Oilfield Chemistry Conference was held in Qingdao from August 22nd to 24th. The conference was hosted by the China Petroleum Society, the National Engineering Research Center for Oil and Gas Drilling and Completion Technology, and China University of Petroleum (East China), with the collaboration of the Deep Oil and Gas National Key Laboratory, China Petroleum Group Engineering Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd., Key Laboratory of Unconventional Oil and Gas Development of the Ministry of Education, and Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory of Oilfield Chemistry. Academician Sun Jinsheng, the director of the university's academic committee, presided over the opening ceremony, and Vice President Dai Caili attended the conference and delivered a speech.

Experts at the conference engaged in in-depth discussions on the challenges and new technologies and methods in the field of oilfield chemistry in domestic and international oil and gas exploration and development. Academician Sun Jinsheng delivered a keynote report titled Key Technological Challenges and Solutions for Ultra-Deep/Special Deep Well Drilling Fluids, Academician Cheng Jiecheng presented a keynote report titled Technological Progress and Key Research Directions in Chemical Flooding for Enhanced Oil Recovery, Canadian Academy of Engineering Academician Hongbo Zeng delivered a keynote report on Research on Interface Science and Colloidal Interactions in Oil Recovery Processes, American Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Arts Academician David A. Weitz presented a keynote report on Study of Fluid Flow in Porous Media at Pore Scale, and Norwegian Academy of Engineering Academician Tao Yang discussed Interdisciplinary Digital Innovation: Unleashing the Potential of Drilling Mud Gas and Cuttings in his keynote report. Professor Dai Caili also delivered a keynote report on Research Progress on Integrated Fracturing, Stimulation, and Displacement Fluid for Tight/Shale Oil.

Additionally, renowned experts and scholars such as Professor Baojun Bai from Missouri University of Science and Technology, Professor Li Daqi from Sinopec Petroleum Engineering Technology Research Institute, Professor Yu Yongjin from PetroChina Petroleum Engineering Technology Research Institute, and Professor Yu Bin from CNOOC Oilfield Service Corporation presented keynote reports on various topics related to oilfield chemistry.
Over 300 experts and scholars from countries including the United States, Canada, France, Norway, Pakistan, as well as major Chinese petroleum companies such as CNPC, Sinopec, CNOOC, and Yanchang Oilfield, and multiple universities including China University of Petroleum (East China), Peking University, Tianjin University, China University of Petroleum (Beijing), and Southwest Petroleum University attended the conference. A total of 159 papers were submitted for the conference, with 11 keynote reports and 49 parallel session reports arranged. After expert evaluation and scoring, 20 outstanding parallel session reports were awarded first prize.
The International Oilfield Chemistry Conference was initiated by the Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory of Oilfield Chemistry at our university. This conference is one of the important academic events in the series of activities celebrating the 70th anniversary of the university. Its aim is to promote in-depth thinking among researchers on the theoretical and technical challenges in oilfield chemistry, and to play an active role in promoting international academic exchanges and cooperation in this field.
