Professor Sun Baojiang Attended the 5th National "Outstanding Engineer Award" Award Ceremony

  The fourth and fifth Outstanding Engineer Award award ceremony was held in Nanjing on October 19. Chen Xi, Chairman of the China International Science Exchange Foundation, Wu Wei, Deputy Mayor of Nanjing, Chinese Academy of Engineering academicians Xie Jianxin, Wang Fuming, Chai Hongfeng, Wang Guofa, Shan Zhongde, Peng Shou, Dong Shaoming, Shen Zhengchang, Cheng Jiecheng, Zhang Zongliang, Hu Ya'an, foreign academician of the Russian Academy of Engineering Zhang Xueji, and officials from relevant departments such as the Science Foundation attended the ceremony, along with about 300 people including the winners of the Outstanding Engineer Award, representatives from various enterprises, and the media. A total of 140 engineers from various industries were awarded the fourth and fifth Outstanding Engineer Award and Outstanding Young Engineer   Award.Professor Sun Baojiang from our college attended the award ceremony as a recipient of the fifth Outstanding Engineer Award.

  Sun Baojiang is a professor, Ph.D. supervisor, chief scientist of the National 973 Project and Basic Science Center Project. He has served as an expert in the marine technology field of the 12th Five-Year Plan 863 Program, a member of the Teaching Steering Committee for Marine Science and Engineering Majors of the Ministry of Education, a member of the Science and Technology Committee of the Department of Earth Sciences and Resource Environment of the Ministry of Education, and a member of the Petroleum Engineering Professional Committee of the China Petroleum Society. He has received honors such as one second prize of the National Technical Invention Award in 2020, one second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2007, and seven first prizes for provincial-level scientific and technological progress. He has published over 220 papers, obtained 75 authorized invention patents, and published five monographs in Chinese and English.

  Professor Sun Baojiang has led a team in the research and development of deep-earth and deep-sea oil and gas well engineering for over 30 years, insisting on the combination of research and practical applications. He has cultivated a research team with strong technical capabilities. The team has developed technologies such as the self-excited pulse cavitation jet drill bit, forming a new generation of hard formation drilling acceleration technology; proposed the well control concept of precise calculation of pressure-early recognition of gas invasion-immediate disposal of risks, achieving a major breakthrough in equipment for deep sea drilling well control technology; and developed industrial hydraulic parameter optimization for deepwater and deep-layer oil and gas well engineering and wellbore pressure control technology, providing new and effective approaches for safe and efficient well construction, promoting technological progress in the industry and enhancing the international competitiveness of drilling technology in China.

  The Outstanding Engineer Award was initiated by the China International Science Exchange Foundation and established with the approval of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Office of the National Science and Technology Awarding Committee. The aim is to vigorously promote the spirit of Chinese engineers of responsibility, innovation, and collaboration, and to reward and commend engineering and technical personnel who have made outstanding contributions to production and construction across the country. The award has become the most comprehensive and authoritative award for engineering and technical personnel in China, covering the widest range of fields. The award is given every two years and has so far selected five sessions, with a total of 385 Outstanding Engineer Award winners. Among them, 24 have been elected as academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The fifth Outstanding Engineer Award was reviewed by 86 experts (including 43 academicians) and approved by the award committee, resulting in the selection of 40 Outstanding Engineer Award winners and 30 Outstanding Young Engineer Award winners.
