On November 15th, the results of the 18th Graduate School Top Ten Academic Stars and the first Graduate School Top Ten Engineering Talents selection were announced. Our doctoral students Liao Bo and Zhou Bobo were named Top Ten Academic Stars, while doctoral students Wang Xiangyu and Cao Mengjiao were named Top Ten Engineering Talents.

Liao Bo, a 2020 doctoral student, under the guidance of Academician Sun Jinsheng and Associate Professor Wang Jintang, focuses on research in natural gas hydrate drilling fluids and molecular simulations. During his doctoral studies, he led one school-funded graduate innovation project and participated in six projects including the National Natural Science Foundation Basic Science Center and major projects. He has published a total of 19 papers (4 Tier 0 papers) and holds 4 invention patents (2 granted), as well as 6 registered software copyrights. Liao Bo has received prestigious awards such as the National Scholarship for Doctoral Students, and has excelled in various competitions including the Challenge Cup and the Internet+ innovation and entrepreneurship competitions.
The work photo of Zhou Bobo
Zhou Bobo, also a 2020 doctoral student, under the guidance of Professor Kang Wanli and Associate Professor Yang Hongbin, has conducted research on polymer flooding agents for water control in oil fields. He has published 28 SCI papers with 667 citations and an H-index of 16. Zhou Bobo has received accolades such as the National Scholarship for Doctoral Students and the title of Qingdao City Top Thousand Outstanding College Students. He has also excelled in academic competitions, winning awards in the Internet+ innovation and entrepreneurship competitions.

Wang Xiangyu, a 2020 doctoral student, under the guidance of Professor Dai Caili and Professor Zhao Mingwei, has published 7 papers as the first author (including 3 Tier 0 papers) and has been awarded a scholarship from a Chinese petroleum company. His research contributions have been implemented in oil fields such as Changqing and Shengli, and have supported key projects in Shandong Province. Wang Xiangyu has participated in multiple national and international research projects and has been recognized with awards in academic competitions.

Cao Mengjiao, a 2021 doctoral student, under the guidance of Professor Dai Caili and Associate Professor Wu Yining, focuses on enhancing oil recovery and oil production chemistry in unconventional reservoirs. She has led a graduate innovation fund project and participated in various national and provincial research projects. Cao Mengjiao has published 7 papers in industry-leading journals and has won awards in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions.
The Top Ten Academic Stars and Top Ten Engineering Talents are the highest academic honors for graduate students at our university. The selection process involves individual applications, departmental recommendations, expert evaluations, and school defense presentations, based on candidates' research achievements, academic contributions, innovation, and impact. This selection showcases the research capabilities of our graduate students and reflects the university's strong academic atmosphere and spirit of scientific inquiry.
