To further implement the strategy of strengthening the school with talent and actively attract outstanding talents from home and abroad, the college hosted the 3rd Energy Science and Engineering Young Scholars Forum on December 28-29, 2023. On the afternoon of December 28, the college held the Petroleum Engineering Sub-forum of the 3rd Energy Science and Engineering Young Scholars Forum. Invited guests, college leaders, and representatives of college teachers attended the forum. Vice Dean Yang Yongfei presided over the forum and delivered a welcome speech.

  Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director Wang Jiansheng of the National Key Laboratory of Deep Oil and Gas introduced the basic situation of the college. During the discussion, Professor Zhang Wei, a national-level young talent approved in 2023, provided a comprehensive overview of his experiences in project preparation, proposal writing, defense procedures, and more. Twelve experts and young scholars from Europe, America, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and China introduced themselves and shared their learning, research, and work experiences. They engaged in in-depth communication on the college's talent policies, teaching and research, talent cultivation, and other aspects.

  Dean Hou Jian delivered a concluding speech, welcoming the guests and emphasizing the importance of serving the national energy strategy and ensuring energy security. He introduced the current development status of the college, talent cultivation, research platforms, and more. Dean Hou pointed out that talent is the primary resource for the college's development. He highlighted that 2023 is the Year of Talent Strategy for the college, marking the beginning of a three-year action plan to strengthen talent. The college has implemented a series of measures to accelerate talent cultivation, achieving significant breakthroughs in talent team building. He hoped that the guests would gain an understanding of petroleum engineering through the forum, join the field, apply for various talent projects through the college, and contribute to the sustainable and high-quality development of the college.
