Recently, the Department of Education of Shandong Province and five other departments announced the list of Shandong Province's Future Technology Institute and Specialized Institutes for 2023. Our college, in conjunction with the School of Earth Sciences and the School of Information and Control Engineering, applied for the Energy Future Technology Institute and it has been approved.
The Energy Future Technology Institute relies on national Double First-Class disciplines such as Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering, Geological Resources and Geological Engineering, Control Science and Engineering, as well as advantageous characteristic disciplines in Shandong Province. It leverages the advantages of high-end research platforms such as the National Key Laboratory for Deep Oil and Gas, and collaborates with institutions like the Oil and Gas Resources Survey Center of the China Geological Survey and the 41st Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation.
In line with the future directions of green, low-carbon energy technology, digitization, and intelligence transformation, the institute focuses on the forefront of energy future technologies. It centers around transformative technologies that may emerge in future energy exploration and development, with a focus on two future technology directions: energy exploration and energy development. The institute enhances interdisciplinary integration, strengthens new technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data, and aims to cultivate future technology creators and leaders with outstanding innovative imagination, cross-disciplinary integration capabilities, forward-thinking judgment, humanistic cultivation, and global competency.
In recent years, the institute has deepened the reform of talent cultivation models, systematically promoted the upgrading of existing talent cultivation models, and continuously expanded new pathways for cultivating top innovative talents. In the next steps, the school will use the construction of the Energy Future Technology Institute as a focal point, strengthen top-level design, improve construction implementation plans, enhance the construction of a high-level faculty team, deepen industry-education integration and the fusion of science and education, gather resources from all parties, and provide strong support for the development of future science and technology and the cultivation of future technology innovation leaders.
