Recently, Xihai New Area held a conference on the high-level and safe high-quality development led by the Party building in the new area in 2024. At the meeting, the top ten outstanding cases of science and technology achievement transformation in the new area in 2023 were announced. Professor Liu Yongwang from our institute's project Technology Transfer of Oil and Gas Drilling Equipment was successfully selected.

    The project Technology Transfer of Oil and Gas Drilling Equipment addresses the fundamental contradiction of the increasing difficulty of rock breaking and the escalating drilling energy requirements as the well depth increases during deep oil and gas drilling. It pioneered oil and gas drilling equipment that simultaneously achieves multiple acceleration effects, such as increasing drilling fluid pressure at the bottom of the well, increasing discharge at the drill bit, mixing abrasives into the jet stream for stable rock breaking, reducing drill string vibration, and ensuring smooth application of drilling pressure. The project has achieved outstanding on-site application results, obtained transformation and promotion, and has been recommended to participate in the selection of the Fifth Shandong Provincial Patent Award.

    The selection of the top ten outstanding cases of science and technology achievement transformation aims to explore and promote good experiences and practices in the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, deepen the implementation of the innovation-driven development strategy, promote the construction of a technology innovation system with deep integration of government, industry, academia, research, and finance, and empower the high-quality development of the new area's economy.
