Recently, the demonstration and start-up meeting of the implementation scheme of the major basic research object-oriented project of Shandong Province Natural Science Foundation Evolution Mechanism and Regulation Method of Underground Hydrogen Storage Multi-scale Multi-field Transport was held in Qingdao, Shandong Province. This project is led by Professor Yang Yongfei of China University of Petroleum (East China), and cooperates with Chongqing University and Beijing University of Science and Technology to tackle key problems. Professor Yao Yanbin, Dean of School of Energy, China University of Geosciences (Beijing), Professor Song Xianzhi, Dean of Stone Institute of Technology, China University of Petroleum (Beijing), Professor Zhao Hui, Dean of Graduate School of Changjiang University, Professor Wang Chunguang of Shandong University of Science and Technology and Hao Jinyan Senior Accountant of Qingdao University of Technology attended the meeting as project implementation scheme demonstration experts. Professor Yang Yongfei, project leader, project leaders and project backbones attended the kick-off meeting.

Yang Yongfei made an overall report on the project, introducing the overall objectives, main research contents, research implementation scheme and expected results of the project. The project research team integrates superior research forces at home and abroad, and its members include a group of outstanding young scientific and technological workers who have been engaged in underground energy development for a long time. At first, the expert group fully affirmed the preliminary work of the project team, questioned and discussed the research objectives, assessment indicators and implementation organization of the project and the subject, pointed out the problems and challenges that may be encountered in the project implementation process, and put forward constructive suggestions for the later implementation of the project. Yang Yongfei expressed sincere thanks to the experts for their suggestions and opinions, and said that he would fully absorb the opinions of the expert group, further refine the research scheme, and complete the project objectives with high quality and high standards.

In 2024, major basic research projects of Natural Science Foundation of Shandong Province are set up with two categories: original exploration and goal-oriented. In principle, the implementation period of the project is 3 years. Target-oriented projects need to focus on the future industry and landmark industrial chain development needs of Shandong Province, condense major scientific problems and key common technical problems, and the project funding amount shall not exceed 1.6 million yuan.
