On October 25, Professor Jonggeun Choe, Chairman of SPE Korea Branch and School of Energy Engineering, Seoul National University, Korea, was invited to visit our institute. Chen Yinton, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the College, Professor Sun Baojiang, Associate Professor Yin Bangtang, Associate Professor Fu Guangming, Teacher Yu Mengfei and student representatives attended the discussion.

Chen Yindun extended a warm welcome to Professor Jonggeun Choe's visit and expressed his heartfelt thanks to Seoul University for its warm reception during the previous overseas study tour of the college's teachers and students to South Korea. He hoped that the two sides could visit each other frequently and further deepen exchanges and cooperation in scientific research cooperation, academic exchanges and talent training.
During the discussion, Yin Bangtang first introduced the main research directions of Professor Sun Baojiang's team, listed the scientific research achievements obtained by the team in recent years, and detailed the experimental platform and member composition.

As a special guest of the lecture hall (No.7), Professor Jonggeun Choe gave an academic report entitled Progress in Deepwater Drilling and Well Control Technology focusing on the importance of energy, drilling technology overview, key milestones of offshore drilling, wellbore pressure control methods and models, etc.

In the questioning session, the teachers and students of the college had an in-depth exchange and dialogue with Professor Jonggeun Choe. Professor Jonggeun Choe emphasized that drilling practitioners and researchers should have a good understanding of the dynamic changes in wellbore pressure, keep the first priority of drilling safety, and make sufficient preparations to avoid accidents.

Jonggeun Choe, President of SPE Korea, Professor of Energy Engineering, Seoul National University, Korea. He graduated from Texas A & M University in 1995. Since 1998, he has been a professor at Seoul National University. 2020-2024 Director of the International Geological Congress of the International Mathematical Geological Society, September 2022-present, President of the Korean Branch of the SPE Society. He was awarded the Rossiter W. Raymond Memorial Award by SPE and AIME. Raymond Memorial Award), SPE Association Korea Branch Green Energy Award. At present, he has published 7 monographs, more than 400 papers and granted 6 US patents.
