On October 21, Segen Farid Estefen, president of Brazil's National Institute of Marine Engineering, honorary professor of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, academician of the Brazilian Academy of Engineering and Academy of Sciences, led a delegation to visit our institute. Yang Yongfei, Vice President of the Academy, Fu Guangming, Vice Director of the Department of Offshore Oil and Gas Engineering, had in-depth talks with Academician Segen Farid Estefen, Professor Murilo Augusto and Professor Su Jian.

Yang Yongfei introduced in detail the basic situation, development history and progress of international cooperation and exchanges of the Institute of Petroleum Engineering. As the second China doctoral student trained by Academician Segen Farid Estefen, Associate Professor Fu Guangming explained the advantages of studying in Brazil and the employment situation of graduates in combination with his own experience.

Academician Segen Farid Estefen spoke highly of the achievements made by the Academy in scientific research and innovation and talent training, and expressed willingness to further promote cooperation and exchanges between China and Brazil in relevant fields. Academician Segen Farid Estefen and Professor Murilo Augusto gave academic reports entitled Development of Marine New Energy in Energy Transition and Research Progress of Marine Structure Laboratory respectively.

After the meeting, Academician Segen Farid Estefen visited the scientific research laboratories related to offshore oil and gas engineering and natural gas hydrate research of our school, and inspected the underwater equipment manufacturing enterprises in Qingdao City. In recent years, our university has made remarkable achievements in personnel training and scientific and technological cooperation with the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and the National Institute of Marine Engineering of Brazil.

Academician Segen Farid Estefen, member of the Brazilian Academy of Engineering and Academy of Sciences, currently president of the Brazilian National Institute of Marine Engineering (INPO), honorary professor of marine structure and underwater engineering at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, head of the marine renewable energy research group, and chairman of the technical committee of the Underwater Technology Society (SUT-Brazil). At the same time, he is also an academic backbone member of the 111 Innovation and Intelligence Base of Offshore Oil and Gas Engineering in charge of Professor Sun Baojiang of our school, and jointly undertakes the Deepwater Sandwich Pipeline National Natural Science Foundation Project with our school. In the past five years, we have jointly trained 5 master's and doctoral students with our school.
