[News from this site] On October 18, the 12th SPE Student Branch General Meeting of China University of Petroleum (East China) was held. Yang Yongfei, Vice President of the College, Chen Yindun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, some teachers 'representatives and SPE student branch members attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Zeng Jing, Secretary General of SPE Student Branch.

At the beginning of the conference, Yang Yongfei affirmed and encouraged the work done by SPE Student Branch from the positioning of SPE Branch, public number platform, landmark activities and achievements of SPE Branch, and proposed that SPE Branch is a student organization with strong professionalism and strong academic atmosphere, and should build an important bridge for academic exchanges between teachers and students. He stressed that SPE Student Club should not only hold the original landmark activities, but also try to host some international competitions and invite foreign students to participate in our school. Finally, he expressed his hope that the new SPE Student Club would achieve great success in international competitions and expressed his ardent expectations for SPE Student Club.

Zhang Wei, professor representative and member of the 3rd SPE Student Branch, shared his unforgettable experience of studying abroad, encouraging students not only to pursue academic excellence, but also to be more active in foreign exchanges, to benchmark more internationally, to establish closer ties with the international community, and to jointly promote the development and progress of petroleum engineering field.

Liu Zeyu, Chairman of the 11th Student Branch, made a report speech, showing the achievements of SPE Student Branch in the past year and clarifying the tasks of the Branch to the new members of the 12th session. Liu Zeyu analyzed and summarized the academic salon, interview activities in Beijing, oil exchange, the first HiSim software design competition and other activities held by SPE Student Branch in the past year, and encouraged the new members to have the courage to imagine, dare to practice, closely combine personal creativity with existing resources, and devote themselves to student work.

Later, Wang Minghui, Chairman of the 12th SPE Student Branch, made a speech, sharing the original intention and glorious history of SPE Student Branch, expounding the work plan for the next year, and expressing sincere thanks to the guests attending the meeting. For the new members to join, Wang Minghui placed expectations: I hope everyone can unite as one, dare to take on responsibilities, meet challenges with greater courage and wisdom, and contribute their own strength to the future of China's oil industry. Finally, Wang Minghui expressed confidence that through our joint efforts, SPE Student Club will be able to create more glory in the new year.

The China University of Petroleum (East China) SPE Student Chapter was officially established on July 6, 2013 after obtaining the approval of SPE General Assembly on April 29, 2013. It is the fifth student chapter of North China Branch and the only SPE student organization in East China. There are more than 700 students and teachers in the student branch. Members of the branch have participated in PetroBowl Asia-Pacific Petroleum Knowledge Competition and Global Finals, and won the top 16 in the world, the Asia-Pacific champion once and the runner-up twice. In 2015 and 2016, the branch was awarded the honorary title of Gold Standard by SPE headquarters for two consecutive years, and won the Student Chapter Excellence Award for two consecutive years in 2022 and 2023, cultivating a large number of outstanding international innovative and entrepreneurial talents with international vision and international ability.
