[Our Report] On February 20th, China's first ultra-deep exploration well, the Shendi Tako 1 Well, successfully completed at a depth of 10,910 meters underground. It successfully drilled the first underground 10,000-meter core sample in China, made the first discovery of oil and gas indications in the deep land at 10,000 meters globally, and became the deepest well in Asia and the second deepest in the world. The academic team led by Professor Sun Jinsheng played a significant role in overcoming the challenges of drilling in the 10,000-meter deep layer.
It is learned that the Shendi Tako 1 well has successively created five major engineering records in the world, including the deepest casing cementing, the deepest cable image logging, the fastest breakthrough of over 10,000 meters on land, the deepest straight well drilling in Asia, and the deepest land core drilling in Asia. From the surface to the drilling depth of 10,000 meters, it took 279 days; from 10,000 meters to nearly 1 kilometer, it took more than 300 days. The 10,000-meter drilling is heart-stopping step by step, every meter is a challenge to the unknown, and every inch is a breakthrough to the limit. During the drilling process, the Shendi Tako 1 well overcame difficulties such as excessive load, unstable well wall, tool failure, and formation well leakage. Especially below 10,000 meters, the drill pipe is soft like noodles, conventional drilling tools and sensors fail, the formation hardness explodes, and the well load reaches 665 tons.

During this process, Academician Sun Jinsheng led the joint research team of the Engineering Research Institute of China National Petroleum Corporation, the Tarim Oilfield Company of China National Petroleum Corporation, and China University of Petroleum (East China) to develop a domestic drilling fluid system adapted to ultra-high temperature and ultra-high pressure strata, which has become a key weapon to overcome the difficulties of deep well drilling. The team successfully constructed a deep well drilling fluid technology system with complete independent intellectual property rights that can withstand temperatures up to 220°C, breaking through bottlenecks such as insufficient high-temperature resistance of drilling fluids, large changes in rheological parameters, and difficulties in balancing various performance indicators. They solved the choke point technical problem of drilling fluids easily failing at high temperatures and successfully grasped the bull's nose of solving the safe and efficient drilling problems of ultra-deep special strata oil and gas.

Academician Sun Jinsheng said during an interview with CCTV that the Shendi Tako 1 well has achieved the first automated operation of a 10,000-meter deep well drilling rig, overcoming the choke point problems of core components such as the 900-ton top drive and 70 MPa ultra-high-pressure drilling fluid circulation system, and promoting significant breakthroughs in the lifting capacity of the drilling rig and the pumping capacity of the drilling fluid.
Academician Sun Jinsheng believes that the successful completion of the Shendi Tako 1 well represents a leapfrogging advancement in the fundamental theories and key core technologies of China's deep earth well engineering full chain, marking a major breakthrough in the deep earth field for China and placing it at the forefront of the world.
