Alumni Jing Xudong Elected Fellow of Royal Academy of Engineering

Recently, the Royal Academy of Engineering officially announced the list of new academicians this year. Jing Xudong, an 81-level alumnus of our academy, was successfully elected as an academician of the Royal Academy of Engineering.

Jing Xudong, Professor of Imperial College of Technology, Visiting Professor of China University of Petroleum (East China). Assist in establishing SPE student branch, come to the school for academic exchanges and cooperation for many times, subsidize the school to carry out research on shale gas microscopic seepage mechanism, participate in doctoral student defense for many times, and teach courses such as theory and method of enhanced oil recovery at home and abroad for graduate students. Graduated from East China Petroleum Institute in 1985 with a bachelor's degree in oil production engineering, and graduated from Imperial College London in 1990 with a doctor's degree in petroleum engineering. He has held a number of technical and leadership positions at Shell, including positions with Shell in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the United States. With over 30 years of development experience, his research interests include oil and gas development, enhanced oil recovery, unconventional shale gas development and carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS). Well-known experts and scholars in the oil and gas industry, serving on executive and technical committees of several international societies, publishing more than 100 papers and co-authoring two petroleum engineering books. Fellow of the prestigious Energy Institute (FEI), Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), Registered Petroleum Engineer (CEng), Distinguished Member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Darcy Award for Outstanding Achievement of the International Society of Core Analysts (SCA).

Founded in 1976, the Royal Academy of Engineering is the highest temple in the field of engineering and technology in the United Kingdom, bringing together the top experts and scholars in the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth of England. Each year, the Academy selects no more than 60 British Fellows, 10 Foreign Fellows and 5 Honorary Fellows for their outstanding contributions to engineering science and technology.
