On July 30, the launching ceremony and the first editorial board meeting of the international journal Energy Science [ISSN:2972-3795 (print), 2972-3809(online)] were held in our school.

In the context of double carbon, how to make a sustainable transition from fossil energy to clean energy is a huge challenge facing mankind and the development direction of global energy transformation. For this reason, the School of Earth Science and Technology, the School of Petroleum Engineering, the Shidashan Energy New Energy School and the School of Economics and Management of our school jointly founded the international academic journal EnergyScience with World Scientific Publishing House, aiming to focus on renewable energy, energy efficiency and conservation, energy storage technology, energy policy and economy, environmental impact of energy production by publishing high-level academic papers covering the cross-cutting fields of fossil energy,new energy and energy economy. Energy production and utilization of emerging technologies and other research directions, leading the cutting-edge research of EnergyScience, and creating an international top academic exchange platform to promote the rapid development of emerging interdisciplinary disciplines in this field.

The launching ceremony was jointly sponsored by the Journal Society, the Institute of Geoscience and Technology and the Institute of Petroleum Engineering relying on the National Key Laboratory of Deep Oil and Gas. Vice President Zhou Peng, Dai Caili, Assistant President Yu Liandong, relevant responsible persons of World Scientific Publishing House, experts and professors attended the launching ceremony.

The meeting emphasized that EnergyScience should be promoted to get on the right track as soon as possible, rank among the core journals as soon as possible, and become a leading journal with international influence by increasing the internationalization of the editorial board team of journals, clarifying the positioning of journals, carrying out high-quality manuscript preparation and promotion, and increasing the international publicity and influence of journals.

At the first meeting of the editorial board of EnergyScience, participants discussed the journal planning from the aspects of construction scheme, rules and regulations, development direction, team building and resource sharing, and put forward measures to promote the long-term development of the journal. The editorial board members also exchanged views on the journal organization structure, publication direction, evaluation criteria, editorial board work requirements, etc.
