On January 7, the 2024 Ocean Engineering Science and Technology Award Presentation Conference was held in Beihai, Guangzhou, and two projects led by our institute were awarded, including 1 first prize and 1 second prize.

The award-winning representatives received the awards on the spot

Associate Professor Wang Jintang was responsible for the completion of the Deepwater Drilling Downhole Complex Prevention and Control Drilling Fluid Key Technology and Application won the first prize, the project aimed at the problem of drilling fluid flow regulation under complex working conditions of deepwater drilling, revealed the formation mechanism of deepwater gas hydrate and abnormal pressure in oil and gas formations, and established a theoretical model for predicting the narrow safety pressure window of complex formations in deepwater drilling. The anti-collapse/leakage drilling fluid system with wide temperature range for deepwater drilling was invented, and the flow performance characterization and flow control method of drilling fluid with wide temperature range for deepwater drilling were created. The mechanism of unsteady mass and heat transfer in deepwater wellbore-hydrate reservoirs was clarified, and the drilling fluid and mass and heat transfer barrier methods in deepwater hydrate formations were established, and major theoretical and technological innovations were obtained. The results have supported the success of the first two rounds of trial production of hydrates in China's sea areas, and have been popularized and applied in the Pearl River Estuary and Qiongdongnan Basin in the South China Sea, Panyu Oilfield and overseas deepwater blocks, with significant economic and social benefits. The evaluation committee, headed by Academician Luo Pingya, believes that the results have reached the international advanced level as a whole.

Professor Li Shuxia was responsible for the completion of the Simulation of Offshore Gas Hydrate Exploitation and Regulation Mechanism of Production Increase, which won the second prizeIn view of the key scientific problems such as the characteristics of phase transition-seepage in gas hydrate reservoirs, the multi-field coupling numerical simulation of heat-fluid-solidification-chemistry, and the regulation mechanism of production stimulation methods, this project has developed micro-scale and large-scale physical simulation experimental equipment for hydrate phase transition-seepage in gas hydrate reservoirs, revealed the complex phase transition-seepage evolution mechanism of low-permeability hydrate reservoirs in marine areas, constructed a four-field coupled numerical simulation method of heat-flow, solidification-chemical coupling for offshore gas hydrate exploitation, and realized the characterization and rapid simulation of fracturing fractures in hydrate reservoirs based on embedded discrete fractures This paper reveals the regulation mechanism of different stimulation methods of hydrate reservoirs, and clarifies the regulation methods suitable for the stimulation of hydrate reservoirs in the South China Sea, which has attracted extensive attention from researchers at home and abroad.

The Ocean Engineering Science and Technology Award is the only science and technology award in the field of ocean engineering in China approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Science and Technology Award Office in 2011 and established by the China Association of Ocean Engineering Consultants. The award aims to encourage marine science and technology innovation, and commend scientific and technological workers and units who have made outstanding contributions in various fields such as basic research, technology development, and technology application of marine engineering. A total of 47 projects will be awarded in the 2024 Ocean Engineering Science and Technology Award, including 15 first prizes and 32 second prizes.
