On September 19, the 72nd Salon of Distinguished Young Scientists was held in our college. Professor Song Kaoping, former vice president of Northeast Petroleum University and now vice director of Academic Committee of China University of Petroleum (Beijing), was invited to attend. This salon is sponsored by Science and Technology Department and Major Project Office and undertaken by Petroleum Engineering College. Zhang Kai, president of Qingdao University of Technology, Hou Jian, president of Petroleum Engineering College, Yang Yongfei, vice president and more than 20 young talents from the college attended the salon. Hou Jian presided over the salon.

Hou Jian welcomed and thanked Professor Song Kaoping for his guidance, and briefly introduced the origin and development of the Salon of Outstanding Young Scientists. He said that the college has been vigorously implementing the strategy of strengthening the college with talents, constantly strengthening the construction of five teams of young talents, optimizing the comprehensive ecological environment conducive to the development of young talents through measures such as training, introduction, evaluation, encouragement and guarantee, and effectively assisting the good development of young talents.

Professor Song Kaoping took Key Theory and Technology of Water Control and Oil Increase in Ultra-high Water-cut Oilfield as the title, shared the innovative achievements and field application of the team in water control and oil stabilization, potential tapping and oil recovery, cost reduction and efficiency enhancement, etc., and put forward suggestions to young talents in combination with his own experience: firstly, anchor the research direction not to change easily, dare to explore the unknown, dare to innovate and practice, accumulate for a long time, and be good at summarizing; Second, theoretical knowledge should be closely combined with practical application, basic research should be based on serving the national economic development and pay attention to the implementation of achievements; thirdly, when applying for various projects, layout and planning should be made in advance, difficulties and achievements in application materials should be concrete, work foundation should be solid, and research content should be clear. The young teachers attending the meeting introduced their basic information and research direction, and had in-depth exchanges with Professor Song Kaoping. They all expressed that they benefited a lot, providing effective experience and useful guidance for better carrying out the application of youth talent projects and relevant research directions in the next step.
