In order to further implement the strategy of strengthening the college with talents, accelerate the construction of talent training system in the new era, and promote the high-quality development of the college, from August 13 to 16, an overseas talent introduction delegation composed of Professor Jia Han, Associate Professor Wang Wendong and Associate Professor Zhang Lei went to famous British universities to carry out overseas talent introduction and professional exchange activities.

The overseas talent introduction delegation successively went to Manchester University and Imperial University of Technology to hold overseas talent introduction seminars. The activities attracted 40 young scholars to attend and exchange, which prepared and paved the way for the subsequent introduction of overseas talents. On the site of the lecture, the talent introduction group introduced the running history, regional advantages, double-first-class disciplines and talent policies of China University of Petroleum (East China) and Petroleum Engineering College to overseas young scholars, focusing on the major scientific research platform and talent development of the College, and sincerely welcomed overseas young talents to join the University of Petroleum and jointly build a first-class university in the field of energy with China characteristics.

University of Manchester Live Lecture

During the visit to Manchester University, the overseas talent introduction delegation had a discussion with Professor Vahid, Dean of the Department of Chemical Engineering of Manchester University, and members of Lin Ma's associate professor team and visited the laboratory. They discussed in depth the cooperation between the two sides in key technology research and innovation such as carbon storage and hydrogen storage, and reached preliminary intention on joint application for international joint projects between governments and organizations.

During the visit to Imperial College of Technology, the overseas talent introduction delegation had a discussion with Professor Martin, academician of the Royal Academy of Sciences and academician of the Royal Academy of Engineering, and visited the laboratory, especially for in-depth exchanges on the curriculum construction of carbon storage science and engineering. Professor Martin took the course system of Earth Energy and Machine Learning and Data Science as an example to introduce in detail the teaching resources construction of carbon dioxide storage, water management, hydrocarbon recovery, geothermal energy and other geological energy development contents in the course system. Professor Martin is a distinguished tutor of the double-first-class international master's class in English in the School of Petroleum Engineering. He has been invited to teach porous media transmission (in English) for many times.
