      [Our Site News] On November 17th, the 19th Challenge Cup National College Students' Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition Revealing the Banner and Taking the Lead Special Competition came to an end. Our college's project Optimized Coordination and Control Method of Efficient Land Shale Oil Extraction and Carbon Sequestration Driven by Integrated Photovoltaic, Wind, Thermal, and Electric Power won the special prize.

The team gathers a group of outstanding students and excellent teachers. Professor Yuan Bin, as the team's guide teacher, focuses on difficulties, innovates ideas, and provides crucial guidance and support for the team's development with many years of unconventional oilfield development experience. Teachers Wang Wendong and Xu Jianchun also play important roles in the team with their rigorous academic attitude and innovative research thinking, providing a solid support for the academic growth and scientific exploration of the student team. In addition, team members have formed many achievements in the field of unconventional oil and gas reservoir development through early accumulation. Ke Can, as the project leader, has published many academic papers and conference papers, applied for two national invention patents, and participated in many academic conferences. He has won many scholarships and honors, including the Student Chapter Excellence Award during his tenure at SPE. Deng Yuxuan, as the second team leader, has published many high-level academic papers and invention patents, won many honors including the provincial gold medal, and has now successfully pursued a doctoral degree. Other members such as Liu Haoyu, Tian Jianquan, Zhang Hongbin, and others have also made remarkable achievements in academia and scientific research, winning many national scholarships, first-class postgraduate academic scholarships, and other honors, and have achieved excellent results in various competitions. In addition, team members Pang Sheng, Li Caojie, Zhang Shuo, Sun Hao, and Jia Feng have also shown outstanding talents and potential in their respective fields. They actively participate in academic research and various competitions, achieving impressive results.

A thousand sails set sail, the brave win; a hundred ships vie for the lead, those who row fiercely come first. This is a team with ideals and tenacity, who set sail together, using the spark of ideals and beliefs to dispel the fog of the future. Even though the waves are surging and the tides are rolling on the sea, they still draw blueprints and chase their dreams afar.

A gathering of talents, facing the challenge

Braving all weathers, aiming for the peak. In the Challenge Cup, a national high-level competition, our students, driven by their passion for professional knowledge and their desire for challenges, have formed several outstanding teams. Among them, a team participated in the competition topic related to shale oil exploitation and carbon sequestration with the spirit of youth building dreams, science and technology serving the country. Ke Can mentioned that the topic focuses on the green exploitation of shale oil and efficient carbon sequestration, which is closely connected to the national dual carbon goals and also meets the strategic needs of national energy security. The team members, with a passion for scientific research and a passion for challenges, jointly formed this team.

To gain a more comprehensive understanding of the research field, team members have been committed to investigating the current research status at home and abroad, deeply exploring the highlights and shortcomings. They have also engaged in in-depth exchanges with experts at home and abroad, obtaining valuable on-site experience and guidance. During this process, the teachers of the college provided them with important guidance. The teachers, with their profound academic background and rich practical experience, offered valuable suggestions for the team's research direction and helped them solve many technical difficulties encountered in the research process. Through the teachers' careful guidance, team members were able to gain a deeper understanding of the research field, laying a solid foundation for the smooth progress of the project. The project Optimized Coordination and Control Method of Efficient Land Shale Oil Extraction and Carbon Sequestration Driven by Integrated Photovoltaic, Wind, and Thermal Power was finally determined as the research direction, and a detailed research plan was formulated. Ke Can said that as one of China's important energy resources, the exploitation and utilization of shale oil is of great significance to national energy security and economic development. However, the traditional extraction methods have high energy consumption and heavy pollution. Therefore, they hope to explore a greener, more efficient, and lower-carbon shale oil extraction method through their own efforts, contributing to the country's energy cause.

The road is long and arduous, but as long as we keep moving forward, we will reach our destination. In terms of technical breakthroughs, the project team has tackled the two major challenges of green exploitation of shale oil and efficient carbon sequestration. By understanding the research status and cutting-edge technologies at home and abroad, focusing on bottleneck issues and conducting in-depth research, combining their own insights with guidance from experts and mentors at home and abroad, and applying professional knowledge to solve practical problems, they have effectively guaranteed the innovativeness and cutting-edge nature of the research issues and the feasibility of the research achievements. In terms of competition preparation, they are determined to strive for perfection in their professional field, accurately dividing the team according to the logic of project development and scientific research. Among them, Deng Yuxuan has made frequent successes in algorithm development, especially in the coupling of extraction algorithms. The teachers have always been concerned about the research progress of the team, regularly communicating and discussing with them. When the team faces research challenges, the teachers demonstrate great patience and professional ability, providing crucial guidance and assistance. By sharing strategies and methods for solving problems, they effectively promote the progress of the project. In addition, the teachers also pay attention to cultivating the positive mindset and beliefs of the team members, encouraging them to believe in their ability to overcome difficulties and achieve success.

We first conducted a comprehensive survey of the research status in this field at home and abroad, understanding some cutting-edge technologies and existing limitations, said the team leader Ke Can. They carried their beliefs to the oilfield for on-site research, not considering the distance of ten thousand miles or the passage of days and months. Every member of the team is willing to make sacrifices and create excellent results in the competition. Throughout the long competition process, the team members maintained efficient communication and collaboration. They had clear divisions of labor and responsibilities, while also paying attention to coordination and cooperation among each other. Whenever they encountered key issues, they would communicate and discuss solutions in a timely manner. This close team collaboration mode and the careful guidance of the teachers laid a solid foundation for the team to achieve excellent results in the competition.

When talking about the difficulties and challenges encountered in the competition, team member Deng Yuxuan sighed, This process is indeed very painful, as it requires us to constantly push ourselves to do things we don't want to do. However, every time we see our achievements and progress, we feel an immense sense of satisfaction and pride.

Deeply study and extensively gather, accumulate and then give forth. After the competition, the team's research achievements were highly recognized by the judges and experts. Team members said that they will continue to deepen their research, constantly improve and optimize the results, and strive to apply them to practical production as soon as possible, contributing to the country's energy cause. In addition to the gains in the technical aspect, team members also said that this competition has had a profound impact on their personal growth and career planning. By participating in the competition, they not only exercised their ability to withstand pressure and scientific research logic, but also made a group of like-minded friends and partners. In the future, they will continue to maintain their passion and pursuit of scientific research, constantly broaden their horizons and knowledge, and make greater contributions to the country's scientific and technological progress and energy cause.

As a student of the Petroleum Engineering College, Ke Can mentioned, Under the background of the national energy strategy transformation policy, the college provides us with an excellent platform, where students have great potential in the development and utilization of unconventional oil and new energy. Team members are well aware of the current situation of China's energy structure and energy dependence, and are committed to closely integrating personal career planning with national energy needs, applying what they have learned, looking to the future, and writing their scientific research papers on the land of the motherland and on the oilfield front line, resonating with the pulse of the nation.

In their youth, it is as if the flowers are in full bloom, brimming with infinite hope and possibility. They delve into the soil of their dreams, focusing on issues such as the oil displacement and storage of carbon dioxide, and the efficient exploitation of shale oil. They take practical steps and measures, continuously iterating and updating applications, and rising with the trend to achieve excellent results in competitions, and continue to strive to write a new chapter in energy.
