In order to popularize the knowledge of offshore oil and gas engineering and guide the students' road to success, on December 15, the Student Union of the School of Petroleum Engineering held the 172nd Meet with the Professor special lecture in Bocai College, which invited Professor Gao Yonghai of the Institute of Offshore Oil and Gas and Hydrates to make a theme report on Long Sea Rhyme, Flying Oil Paint, and more than 100 undergraduates of the School of Petroleum Engineering participated in the event.

Gao Yonghai emphasized the great significance of the development of offshore oil and gas resources from three aspects: national demand, national policy and national strategy, and demonstrated them respectively, and took the oil and gas reserves of the South China Sea as an example to illustrate the richness of deepwater oil and gas reserves and its importance to China's energy security. Subsequently, Gao Yonghai summarized the development and prospects of deepwater oil and gas exploration at home and abroad from three aspects: development history, development status and development trend. When talking about domestic offshore oil and gas development, Gao Yonghai listed a series of challenges and problems faced by China's deepwater oil and gas exploration and development, such as oil production and underwater installation. He pointed out that the country has a high demand for talents with professional knowledge and skills in offshore oil and gas engineering, and encouraged the participating students to dare to challenge, be brave in innovation, constantly improve their professional quality and practical ability, and contribute their wisdom and strength to the development of the field of offshore oil and gas engineering.

The successful holding of this lecture greatly stimulated the interest and enthusiasm of our students in the field of offshore oil and gas engineering, provided new ideas for students' future learning and development planning, and contributed to the construction of the college's characteristic education system of gold mining course.
