[Station News] Recently, the National Natural Science Foundation of China announced the results of the joint fund key support project, and our college has been approved for two enterprise innovation and development joint fund key support projects, with Professor Li Meichun and Professor Zhao Mingwei as the project leaders.

Professor Li Meichun's project Mechanism and Multi-element Synergistic Cooling Method of the Whole Well Temperature Field in Ultra-Deep Drilling aims at the guidance direction of Mechanism and Large-scale Cooling Method of the Whole Well Temperature Field in Ultra-Deep Drilling of China National Petroleum Corporation. It is jointly carried out with China University of Geosciences (Beijing) and China Petroleum Group Engineering Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd. to tackle the problem of failure of drilling fluid and downhole tools due to excessive bottom hole temperature during ultra-deep and super-deep oil and gas drilling. The project focuses on four aspects: the coupling effect and thermodynamic model of ultra-high-temperature formation and wellbore temperature field, research and development of key temperature control materials and thermal property regulation in ultra-high-temperature formation, efficient cooling methods for wellbore in ultra-high-temperature formation drilling, multi-element synergistic cooling methods and mechanisms for the whole well in ultra-high-temperature formation drilling, and the formation of basic theories and control methods for large-scale cooling of wellbore in ultra-high-temperature wells. It has important practical significance for the safe and efficient development of ultra-deep and super-deep oil and gas in our country.

Professor Zhao Mingwei's project Special Deep High-Temperature Inorganic Hybrid Gel Fracturing Fluid and Temperature Resistance and Drag Reduction Mechanism, in response to the guidance direction of Special Performance Structure-Effect Relationship, Formation Mechanism and Synthesis Method of Special Fracturing Core Materials of China National Petroleum Corporation, jointly carries out research and development of inorganic hybrid polymers, preparation of nanometer loaded crosslinking agents, dynamic crosslinking regulation laws of high-temperature heavy fracturing fluid system with ultra-high temperature resistance, ultra-high temperature mechanism and ultra-low friction reduction mechanism from five aspects, innovatively forms a special deep layer high-temperature ultra-low friction reduction heavy fracturing fluid technology applicable to special deep layers, which has important practical and strategic significance for the efficient development of ultra-deep special deep oil and gas in our country.

Since 2018, the National Natural Science Foundation of China has jointly funded with relevant local governments and enterprises to establish the National Natural Science Foundation Regional Innovation and Development Joint Fund and the National Natural Science Foundation Enterprise Innovation and Development Joint Fund, strengthening overall management, unified fund use, unified publication of guidelines, unified review procedures, and unified project management. At the same time, joint funds are established around key scientific issues in industry departments and funded by relevant industry 主管部门 to promote the formation of a new period of joint fund funding system with higher funding efficiency.

The Joint Innovation and Development Fund aims to give full play to the guiding role of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, attract and gather the superior scientific research strengths nationwide, focus on the core scientific issues in key technical fields around the urgent needs of industrial development, promote the integration of the knowledge innovation system and the technological innovation system, and boost the independent innovation capabilities of Chinese enterprises.

The 2024 Corporate Innovation and Development Joint Fund provides funding in the form of key support projects or integrated projects, with a funding period of 4 years, and the average direct cost funding intensity for key support projects is about 2.6 million yuan per item.
