At the demonstration meeting, Professor Wang Wendong, deputy director of the Department of Carbon Storage Science and Engineering, reported on the formulation of the base construction plan in the early stage and the revision of the 2023 and 2024 versions of the professional training plan, emphasizing that the base construction plan should comply with the new needs of the new business format of the oil and gas industry for talent training. Facing the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutrality, a complete education framework including training goals, graduation requirements, curriculum system, practical teaching modules and support matrix has been systematically constructed. In particular, it is pointed out that it is necessary to deeply integrate the education and teaching reform in the field of carbon neutrality, the cross-integration characteristics of petroleum engineering and new energy, and the collaborative education resources of industry and education in the energy industry into the program design, and focus on strengthening the construction of cutting-edge technology course modules such as carbon capture and storage and low-carbon oil and gas development.

In the special discussion session, the participating experts focused on the path of professional transformation and upgrading under the background of double carbon, and conducted in-depth discussions on core topics such as the improvement of the training level of carbon neutrality leading talents and the optimization of the curriculum system The construction plan of characteristic courses such as Carbon Storage Geology, Carbon Market and Carbon Trading, Carbon Sequestration Principles and Technology, and the connection of the basic knowledge of the curriculum system. In view of the practical teaching links, experts suggest that the teaching links and practical courses of carbon storage science and engineering design should be added to strengthen the supporting role of school-enterprise joint laboratories in talent training.
