Vice President Pang Xueyu, on behalf of the College, welcomedAcademician Cotta's team, affirmed the cooperation effect between Academician Cotta's team and the College in recent years in jointly publishing high-level papers and sending students to the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro to study for doctoral degree, and expressed gratitude to the team for its long-term support for the internationalization work of the College. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on topics such as talent training, scientific and technological cooperation and platform construction, and expressed that they would further strengthen in-depth cooperation in scientific research and innovation, talent training and other fields.

Thesymposium on Application of Hybrid Numerical Methods in the Ocean Energy was presided over by Associate Professor Fu Guangming of the College, focusing on efficient calculation and application in the field of offshore oil and gas engineering. Renato M. Academician Cotta and his team members, Academician Carolina (youth) and Professor Su Jian, made special reports respectively to share the latest research results. Academician Cotta discussed the innovative application of numerical calculation in the field of marine engineering with the title of Foundation and Application of Computational Analysis Integral Transformation; Academician Carolina focused on Application of Membrane Distillation Technology in Water Treatment and demonstrated the latest progress of green water treatment technology;Professor Su Jian shared the key technical breakthroughs in marine oil and gas engineering around Marine Riser VIV Analysis.

Academician Cotta is an academician of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC), the National Academy of Engineering (ANE) and the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), and an academic master of the 111 Innovation and Intelligence Base of Offshore Oil and Gas Engineering of our school. He has served as Chairman of Brazil's National Nuclear Energy Commission, Member of the National Energy Policy Commission, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the International Center for Heat and Mass Transfer (ICHMT), Commander of the Navy Order of the President of the Republic of Brazil (2018) and Commander of the National Order of Science (2009) and Grand Cross (2018), and Member of the 2024 MAE Hall of Fame of North Carolina State University.
