From July 8 to July 10, the 2025 SPE PetroBowl Asia Pacific Regional Qualifier was held atUniversiti Teknologi PETRONAS in Perak, Malaysia. The SPE student branch team of our school participated as the only representative team in China.

There are 16 teams from universities in China, Malaysia, Australia, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam and other countries participating in this competition. The team of our school consists of graduate students and international students from School of Petroleum Engineering and School of Earth Science and Technology. The members are Hou Huilin, Chen Xiaorui, GLOIRE IMANI MUKENDI,MUHAMMAD WAJID MANZOORand Cai Wenhui respectively. The competition is conducted in English. The competition topics include cutting-edge scientific knowledge such as petroleum development history, petroleum engineering technology, petroleum geology and artificial intelligence. In the first round of the competition, the opponent of our team wasthe representative team of ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY OF RIAU. During the competition, our team members answered actively and responded quickly, gradually widening the gap between the scores, defeating the opponent by 40:10 score and successfully entering the second round. In the second round of competition, our school team opponent isPALAWAN STATE UNIVERSITY, two teams five strength is similar, in the competition, both teams five to me, the score alternately rises, after fierce competition, our school team regret defeat, won the top eight, this result is our school nearly five years best result. In the end, the team of Malaysia National Petroleum University of Science and Technology won the championship of the competition. After the competition, our students actively communicated with each team, broadened their horizons and accumulated experience, which accumulated valuable experience for our school to participate in similar competitions in the future.

PetroBowl, founded in 2002, is an international petroleum knowledge quiz contest sponsored by SPE Gulf Young Engineers Association. It is divided into six regions worldwide: Asia and Pacific, Europe and Russia, North America, South America and Caribbean, and Africa. PetroBowl enjoys the reputation of Olympic Competition in Petroleum Engineering Field in the international petroleum industry.
