[News from this site] Recently, the General Office of China Association for Science and Technology announced the list of plays of Scientist Story Stage Drama Promotion Action in 2025, and Shen Zhonghou, the original stage play declared by our institute, was selected.

The stage play Shen Zhonghou is based on Shen Zhonghou, a famous expert in oil and gas well engineering technology, an expert in water jet technology, an academician of China Academy of Engineering and a professor of our academy. Focusing on three aspects of family feelings,scientific research and teacher's demeanor, the stage play shows Shen Zhonghou's personal track of deeply cultivating the teaching altar and serving the country with science and technology, vigorously promotes the spirit of scientists, and encourages teachers and students to follow the example of the older generation of scientists. Ambition, patriotic dedication, determined innovation.

Successful audition ofstage play Shen Zhonghou

The stage play Shen Zhonghou is an original master drama led by the Petroleum Engineering College and focused on by the Petroleum Soul Counselor Studio. It is a vivid practice of the school insisting on educating people with culture and inheriting the spirit of scientists. Writing began in October 2024 and the cast was composed entirely of college students. During the creation process, the teachers and students of the college consulted more than 40 interview manuscripts, 300,000 words of relevant documents and video materials. The script has been revised three times, striving to depict and restore the spiritual style and noble quality of Mr. Shen Zhonghou, the father of drill bit in China in an all-round and three-dimensional way. In April this year, his works won the second prize of the 9th National Petroleum University Cultural Works Award and the Best Script Award of the University Culture and Art Festival; on July 4, his works were successfully auditioned in the school, with enthusiastic response. Teachers and students said that their works are rich in connotation, vivid and delicate in interpretation, deeply feel the family feelings and struggle spirit of the older generation of scientists, and will take Academician Shen Zhonghou as an example to carry forward his spiritual character of rigorous scholarship, truth-seeking and pragmatic, indifferent to fame and wealth, inherit Shi Da spirit, and gather strong motivation to forge ahead.

Scientist Story Stage Drama Promotion Action is a national-level project jointly sponsored by China Association for Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, China Academy of Sciences, China Academy of Engineering, Central Committee of Communist Youth League and China Federation of Literary and Art Circles.
