On November 21, the results of the 2025 co-election of academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering were officially announced, and a total of 71 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering were elected, including new academicians from the Faculty of Energy and Mining Engineering12 people, Wang Xiangzeng, a part-time doctoral supervisor of our college, was elected.

Wang Xiangzeng, Ph.D., professor-level senior engineer, doctoral supervisor, engaged in postdoctoral research at the Postdoctoral Research Station of Oil and Gas Engineering, China University of Petroleum (East China) from December 2006 to November 2008. He is currently the chief scientist and chief geologist of Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum Group.
During his growth period, Wang Xiang was engaged in theoretical research, technical research and engineering practice for the development of low-permeability tight oil and gas reservoirs, and successively presided over national projects/projects such as the National Science and Technology Support Program, the National Science and Technology Major Project, the 863 Plan, and the National Key R&D Program9The theory of dual dynamic collaborative development of low-permeability tight reservoirs and the infiltration and water injection technology of low-permeability tight reservoirs have been created, and the worldwide problem of difficult use of matrix pore crude oil in low-permeability tight reservoirs has been overcome. This paper proposes a new understanding of the geological theory of sand formation and storage control in the sea-land interaction environment, and establishes a three-dimensional development technology for complex superimposed gas reservoir mixed well networks, which solves the technical bottleneck of low utilization of tight gas reservoirs and supports the development of scale benefits in Yan'an gas field. The creation of CO2 fracturing-displacement and storage integration technology solves the engineering and technical problems of immiscible phase flooding in low-permeability tight reservoirs to greatly improve oil recovery, and presides over the construction of the first CSLF internationally certified full-process integrated CCUS demonstration project in China. He has won 3 second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, 10 provincial and ministerial special prizes and 10 first prizes. He has won the He Liang He Li Award, Guanghua Engineering Award, National Innovation Award, Li Siguang Geological Science Award, Sun Yueqi Energy Award, International Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Outstanding Member Award and National May Day Labor Medal, and has been selected as the national Millions of Talents Project.
