On April 28, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions celebrated the May Day International Labor Day and the National May Day Labor Award Commendation Conference was held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Jin Xianpeng, a 200-level alumnus of petroleum engineering and Wang Kai, a 2017 alumnus of oil and gas engineering, won the National May Day Labor Medal.

Jin Xianpeng, graduated from China University of Petroleum (East China) in 2004, majoring in petroleum engineering, and is currently the deputy director (presiding over the work), secretary of the party branch, and senior engineer of the dry hot rock exploration and mining room of the Hydrogeological Environment Geological Survey Center of the China Geological Survey. From the Northeast Oilfield to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Geothermal, it has always taken ensuring national energy security and promoting green and low-carbon development as its own responsibility. He has applied for more than 20 patents, published more than 20 papers, obtained 8 software copyrights, and participated in and organized the compilation of national and industry standards for 4 projects. He served as a young editorial board member of China Geology and a consulting expert on the construction of the Sustainable Development Agenda Innovation Demonstration Zone in Hainan Prefecture in Qinghai Province, and made suggestions for the development of the industry.

Wang Kai, born in November 1994, from Qingdao, Shandong Province, master's degree, graduated from China University of Petroleum (East China) majoring in oil and gas engineering, and is currently working in the Safety and Emergency Service Department of the Second Exploration Team of Shandong Coalfield Geology Bureau (National Mine Emergency Rescue Shandong Special Exploration Team). In the 2024 Shandong Provincial Mining Professional Emergency Rescue Team Emergency Training and Skills Competition, he won the first prize of the mining professional (drilling) group and the first prize of the individual comprehensive project, and won the title of Technical Expert in Shandong Province in 2024; won the first prize of the group and the individual gold medal in the 2024 National Mine Drilling (Emergency Rescue) Skills Competition; In the 13th National Mine Rescue Skills Competition in 2025, it won the first prize of the group all-around and the first prize of the individual all-around in the drilling group competition.

The National May Day Labor Medal is a national honorary award established by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, aiming to commend workers who have made outstanding contributions to the construction of socialism in China. This year, a total of 3,024 National May Day Labor Awards were commended. Among them, 379 collectives and 1,462 individuals won the National May Day Labor Award and Medal, and 1,183 collectives won the National Worker Pioneer.
