On June9, Zou Jian, Chief Oil Extraction Expert at the Bohai Petroleum Research Institute of CNOOC Tianjin Branch, andsix others visited the institute for technical exchanges. Our college's vice presidents Guo Tiankui, Jia Han, Zhang Liming, and teachers from related disciplines attended the meeting, which Guo Tiankui presided over.

Scene from the exchange meeting
At the meeting, both sides first introduced the participants. Vice President Guo Tiankui welcomed Zou Jian and his delegation. He pointed out that the college has maintained good cooperative relationships with various CNOOC units for many years, and expressed hope that this exchange would further deepen cooperation in areas such as offshore heavy oil thermal extraction, be guided by on-site needs, further carry out in-depth and organized scientific research cooperation, and that school-enterprise collaboration will help efficiently develop offshore oil and gas resources.
Zou Jian stated that offshore heavy oil development faces many practical challenges. It is difficult for enterprises alone to achieve rapid technological breakthroughs, and there is an urgent need to deepen university-enterprise collaboration. He hopes that through this exchange, both sides will establish a long-term, stable, and regular cooperation and exchange mechanism, continuously strengthen multi-dimensional collaboration such as technical seminars, major project cooperation, and talent exchange, and work together to overcome industry technical challenges.
During the exchange session, Mou Mei from the Bohai Petroleum Research Institute of CNOOC Tianjin Branch specifically introduced the overall development status, field application results, and industry pain points of offshore heavy oil thermal extraction technology in China. She also provided a detailed explanation of the background, research direction, application requirements, and support policies of the Director Fund Project of the Key Laboratory of Offshore Heavy Oil Thermal Extraction in light of the unique operating environment, geological conditions, and extraction challenges of offshore oil and gas fields.
Zhang Liming, Lin Riyi, Li Binfei, Sun Renyuan, Wei Bei, and Wang Mingbo each gave in-depth discussions on cutting-edge directions such as the application scenarios of large models and artificial intelligence technologies in oil and gas field development, efficient thermal management technology and application of heavy oil thermal extraction under a low-carbon background, research and practice on quality and efficiency enhancement in heavy oil extraction, development technology for complex heavy oil reservoirs, efficient heavy oil development technology, and cavitation efficient heating technology, comprehensively showcasing diversified technological explorations in heavy oil extraction.
Participants from both sides spoke freely about the report content, technical challenges in offshore heavy oil extraction, practical on-site production issues, adaptability of new technology implementation, and joint research projects, actively exchanging views, sharing experiences, and exploring solutions. In the afternoon, Zou Jian and his delegation also visited relevant laboratories to gain firsthand insights into the construction of our university's oil and gas extraction research platforms and experimental research.
